RACING FOR MEXICO

Mexican drivers Adrian Fernandez, Michel Jourdain Jr., Carlos Contreras, Jorge Goeters, Rafael Martinez, Mara Reyes, Jose Luis Ramirez, Freddy Tame Jr. and Rubén Garcia Novoa participated this morning in the first press conference at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, in preparation for the Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 Presented by Banamex, where they agree that it would be nice that a Mexican wins this race.

“I feel really honored to race Adrian Fernandez - who was my hero when I was little boy, and also to race the remainder of the Mexican drivers, that I’ve raced with before in Mexico. I really hope that the win goes to a Mexican driver. I think this is our call,” Jose Luis Ramirez said.

Also, fellow Mexican Michel Jourdain Jr. said: “This is a great event for the fans; they are going to enjoy a great race on Sunday. I’m thrilled to be out there with all these stock-cars.”

Adrian Fernandez is very optimistic to race again before his Mexican fans: “I’m happy to get back to Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, the NASCAR race it’s going to be very intense for all the fans who are going to enjoy it.”

On the other hand, Mara Reyes, who is going to be one of the three female drivers to race the Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200, and the only Mexican native female driver said: “I’m thrilled with the opportunity to race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in an International Series such as NASCAR Busch Series. I’m looking forward to be in the car. This is just amazing. I hope we do well.”

Carlos Contreras , who became the first Mexican driver to participate in a NASCAR race at California Speedway (1999), he’s the only one who has raced in two out of three National NASCAR Series (NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series & NASCAR Busch Series.) Carlos said: “It’s just great to race in Mexico City in an International Series. In addition, it’s like a dream that several friends of mine from the States and Mexico will be racing this weekend, joining me!”

Jorge Goeters , one of the fans’ favorite drivers said: “This is going to be an interesting race, because it will be held in a new race course. The so called NASCAR circuit (4.054 Km.) nobody raced on before, even Mexican drivers. I think this will equalize the opportunities. Anybody can win and who knows, maybe the trophy stays here at home.”
