JORGE GOETERS SPECTACULAR, SETS POLE IN MEXICO

Mexican driver Jorge Goeters driving No. 66 Canel’s/Scotiabank grabbed pole position in a spectacular way at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez before thousands of fans who cheered his exciting lap.

“I owe my Team Brewco one. I’m very excited. I’ve never been like this. It’s perfect that this happened here, in Mexico. It’s amazing. I don’t know if I can thank enough Brewco family because NASCAR is here in Mexico and of course, to Canel’s and Scotiabank,” Goeters said.

“This is my first start with all this people. It’s great that this happens in my home country and I thank everybody. Thanks to NASCAR family, and Brewco Motorsports for opening the door to make me part of their team. I am happy for Newt Moore my crew chief. This goes to all the big bosses in my country during my first time in NASCAR Busch Series.”

About his Dad who was crying, Jorge Goeters added: “I think my Dad was more nervous than I. This is very emotional. Thanks it’s the only word that I have. Thanks to all people who helped me and we’ll see if we can make it tomorrow.”

American driver Robby Gordon will start from the outside pole, followed by NASCAR Busch Series reigning champion Martin Truex Jr. Ron Fellows took the fourth spot as Kevin Harvick and Paul Menard rounded out the top-six.

Carlos Contreras had a great performance and took seventh, as Michel Jourdain Jr. recovered from his yesterday’s incident to set the 18 th fastest average speed.

On the other hand, Adrian Fernandez, Rafael Martinez and Mara Reyes had problems. Adrian crashed at the end of the last Ese and these three drivers will start the race because of their provisional.

Unfortunately, Mexican drivers Jimmy Morales and Freddy Tame Jr. weren’t able to qualify. Tame Jr. had a spectacular accident but was uninjured.
