FERNANDEZ BEST AMONG MEXICAN DRIVERS

Experienced Mexican driver Adrian Fernandez was best among Mexican drivers in Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 Presented by Banamex race held this Sunday at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Adrian despite spending his whole racing career in open-wheel racing, decided to take the challenge and compete in a stock car, making his debut this weekend in first NASCAR Busch Series race in Mexico.

His debut was with a top team such as Hendrick Motorsports and Friday he surprised everybody being fastest at the end of the day, after the two practice sessions. Saturday, luck was not on his side and he qualified 40 th, while his fellow countryman Jorge Goeters set Busch pole, being cheered by his peers.

Sunday, despite fighting hard Jorge Goeters was not able to reach Victory Lane and likewise Fernandez, he enjoyed a provisional lead.

Finally, Fernandez took a top-10 spot, while Jimmy Morales was second best among Mexican drivers with a 20 th position.

“I’m very grateful for the invitation that Hendrick Motorsports did to me. I am very happy and satisfied, it was a great experience. We did a lot of very radical changes to the car, it was pushing a lot. However, it was very quick in the chicanes, where I really was able to overtake everybody. While I was leading, the tires were worn out and I’ve only tried to survive and not loose positions,” Fernandez said.
