DRIVERS GIVE GOOD COMMENTS ABOUT TELCEL-MOTOROLA MÉXICO 200 PRESENTED BY BANAMEX

NASCAR Busch Series drivers gave good comments about the Telcel-Motorola México 200 Presented by Banamex race held last Sunday at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. They were impressed, not only because it was set a record attendance in a NASCAR Busch Series race with more than 132,000 spectators during the race weekend, also because of the great organization.

Kenny Wallace, a popular TV commentator for SPEED Channel and Michel Jourdain’s ppc Racing team mate said: “The track is great, the event was well organized. I was in the nicest hotel that you can get. I flew helicopter every day. It was an incredible sight. They love Mexican drivers and they were waving Mexican flags rooting for Mexican drivers.”

And he added: “The security was very tight, which is good. The garage area was not really packed. They treated us great. They are nice people. Also I met a Mexican comedian ( Eugenio Derbez) kind of Jim Carey. It was a great experience overall. The logistics were just impeccable. For sure Mexico will be a permanent stop for the NASCAR Busch Series.

On the other hand, driver Tim Fedewa said: “The track is really long, people are nice and the event was great. It was good that NASCAR has decided to come to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The next step should be Canada.”

Rusty Wallace , a veteran driver in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and occasional driver in the NASCAR Busch Series said: “The track has a [NASCAR NEXTEL] Cup size, except for a couple of turns, but that’s not an issue. The race was very well organized that they could bring the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series here in the future.

Elliott Sadler , one of former NASCAR Busch Series regulars who made the inaugural Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup said: “I think that maybe we’ll have another year with Busch Series and then, they could bring the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series. My hotel is really tall and you can see the whole city. The track is amazing.”

David Green , a NASCAR Busch Series veteran champion said: “Thanks to the logistics people in Mexico City, they did a good job.”

Boris Said , a Trans-Am Series veteran and an expert in road courses in the NASCAR Busch Series said: “I love Mexican food and I like here. [ Mexico City] is about five hours from San Diego. Hopefully we come back.”

JJason Keller , another NASCAR Busch Series regular said: “Mexican drivers have the right attitude to race in NASCAR. I liked very much the event, though I would like to go to an oval outside the States to show the fans what we can do.”

Finally, team owner Richard Childress said: “ Mexico City in no different to any other city in the States. Here everything was well organized.”
